External Wall Insulation Along a Balcony
The outside walls along a balcony were covered with insulation boards, anchored and rendered, so the home holds its temperature better.

Step by step
1. The wall before

The wall had nothing but its old render. Without insulation, heat and cold from outside pass straight into the rooms.
2. The first boards

The boards are glued to the wall starting from the bottom, one next to the other, with no gaps between them.
3. The whole wall covered

The boards cover the whole surface. Around doors and windows they are cut to fit.
4. Fixing with anchors

On top of the adhesive, every board is also held by special anchors driven into the wall.
5. Covering the anchors

The anchor heads and the joints are filled over, so the surface is even before the render goes on.
6. Render

A coat of render is spread over all the boards to protect them.
7. Finishing

The final coat is worked by hand so the corners and edges come out straight.
8. The result

A smooth white wall. Insulation on the outside keeps the rooms cooler in summer and warmer in winter.
