Step by step

1. A bare slab

A bare concrete roof with steel bars sticking up

A roof of bare concrete, with no protection from sun or rain.

2. The low walls

The low wall at the edge of the roof

The low walls around the edge will be covered too, so the joint with the floor is not left open.

3. The foam

The roof covered with beige polyurethane foam

The whole surface is sprayed with polyurethane foam, which forms one continuous insulating layer with no joints.

4. Up the low walls

The foam carried up the low walls of the roof

The foam runs up the low walls and over their tops.

5. White protection

A white coating rolled over the foam

The foam must not be left exposed to the sun, so a white protective coating is rolled over it.

6. Across the whole surface

The white coating gradually covering the foam

The coating works its way across the whole roof, so no spot is left uncovered.

7. A fresh coat

The wet white coating shining in the sun

Freshly applied, the coating shines in the sun.

8. The result

The roof all white, low walls included

One continuous white roof. The foam insulates and the white reflects the sun, so the rooms below stay cooler.
