Step by step

1. The bare pit

A concrete inspection pit with pipes before waterproofing

The inspection pit was bare concrete, with pipes coming in through the sides. Concrete on its own soaks up water.

2. First coat

Grey waterproofing on the floor and sides

The first coat of waterproofing goes over the floor and sides and around every pipe.

3. The channel

The narrow channel with its first coat

The same is done in the narrow channel, right up to its edges.

4. White coat

The square pit with a white coat

A white coat follows over the grey one, covering the rim of the pit as well.

5. The long pit

The long pit with a white coat

The long pit gets its white coat too, worked carefully around the upright pipe.

6. Channel and pit

The channel and the pit, waterproofed

The channel and the pit at its end are now one continuous surface, with no open joints.

7. The result

The finished long pit with a glossy surface

A smooth, glossy surface that doesn't let water leak through and is easy to clean.
