Coating a Corrugated Roof

A corrugated roof covered in moss and lichen was cleaned and coated in a silvery-white finish that protects it from the weather.

Coating a Corrugated Roof

Step by step

1. The roof before

Corrugated sheets covered in moss and lichen

The sheets had darkened and were covered in moss and lichen, which hold moisture on the surface.

2. Up close

Lichen on the ridges of the sheets

On the ridges of the corrugations the dirt had built up into a thick layer.

3. Cleaning

Washing the roof

The roof is washed until the dirt and lichen are gone. The coating only bonds to a clean surface.

4. First coat

The first coat, with the tin of material

The coating goes on the ridges and the joints between sheets first, then over the whole surface.

5. The difference

Coated and uncoated parts of the roof side by side

The difference is easy to see here: the finished part at the top and right, the old surface at the bottom left.

6. Right to the edges

The coating running up to the wall

The coating goes right up to the wall and around every obstacle, so no spot is left bare.

7. The result

The finished roof

One even, bright surface that reflects the sun and protects the sheets from the rain.
