Insulation
Flat Roof Sprayed with Foam and Coated White
A flat roof beside the tiled roofs of a church was sprayed with polyurethane foam and then given a white protective coating.

Step by step
1. Spraying the foam

The foam is sprayed across the roof. The walls around are covered with plastic sheeting to keep them clean.
2. The foam layer

The foam forms one continuous insulating layer with no joints, and goes around the steel bars sticking up from the slab.
3. White protection

Foam shouldn't be left exposed to the sun, so a white coating goes on to protect it.
4. Over the whole surface

The coating goes over the whole roof. The white reflects the sun and keeps the space below cooler.
