Office Walls Damaged by Damp, Repaired and Repainted

Around the window the paint had blistered and peeled. The walls were scraped, filled, given a base coat and painted.

Office Walls Damaged by Damp, Repaired and Repainted

Step by step

1. Where we started

The office wall with peeling paint around the window

Paint had peeled around and below the window, a sign of damp.

2. Up close

Peeling patches beside the window

Where the damp had got in, the paint and the top layer of plaster had come away in large patches.

3. Scraping

The scraped wall, with the loose paint gone

Anything loose is scraped off. Paint over it and it will come away again, taking the new paint with it.

4. Filling

Filled patches on the wall

Dips and edges are filled so the wall is flat again.

5. Base coat

The wall around the window with its base coat

A base coat goes over the repaired areas and evens out the surface before the final paint.

6. Across the whole wall

The wall under the window with its base coat

The base coat is spread across the whole wall under the window, down to the skirting.

7. Painting

The wall painted white

The final paint gives an even, clean surface.

8. The result

The finished wall by the window

Where the blisters and peeling used to be, there is now a smooth, bright wall.
