The bathroom was stripped back to bare walls, then got new pipework, a shower with a built-in niche and grey tiles on walls and floor.

Step by step

1. Demolition

Bare walls after the tiles came off

The old tiles and fittings come out, leaving the walls bare.

2. Building the shower area

Low brickwork in the shower corner

Low sections of brickwork are built where the shower will go.

3. New pipework

New drain pipes in the floor

The floor is opened up and new drain and water pipes are laid.

4. The floor

The floor laid, with the drain in place

The floor is laid again around the drains and made ready for tiling.

5. Tiles and niche

Grey tiles, a wall niche and the shower step

Walls and floor are covered with large grey tiles. A niche is left in the shower wall for bottles.

6. The fittings

The new toilet in place

The new toilet and the other fittings go in.

7. The result

A new basin with a cabinet and mirror

A basin with a cabinet, a mirror with a shelf and the same grey tile throughout. A bathroom that is easy to keep clean.
