The walls were black with mould and the paint was coming off in sheets. They were scraped, repaired and painted, in the rooms and the entrance hall.

Step by step

1. Where we started

A wall covered in dark mould stains around the window

The walls were covered in dark mould stains from top to bottom.

2. Paint coming off in sheets

Old paint peeling off in large sheets

The old paint had lost its grip and was coming away in whole sheets. All of it has to go.

3. The entrance

The entrance with patched walls and the iron door

The entrance hall walls were damaged too, and are patched before painting.

4. Repairing the base of the wall

Filling the base of the wall under the window

The scraped areas are filled and levelled, starting from the base of the wall.

5. First coat

A white coat going onto the cleaned wall

A white coat goes onto the clean wall and covers the stains.

6. The entrance in progress

Holes and marks in the entrance walls are filled one by one.

7. The entrance finished

The entrance painted white

Clean white walls around the iron door.

8. The result

The living room painted a warm beige

Walls that were covered in mould are clean again, with fresh paint.
