Terrace Beside a Tiled Roof: Old Membrane Out, White Coating In
The old bitumen membrane had torn and come loose. It was stripped off, and the terrace and its walls were covered with a white waterproof coating.

Step by step
1. Where we started

The old membrane had torn and lifted in many places, leaving open joints.
2. Stripping

The old membrane comes off completely, including from the walls under the roof tiles.
3. Sheet by sheet

New material doesn't go on top of membrane that has come loose. Left in place, it would give the new coating no solid base.
4. A clean surface

With the membrane gone, the surface is cleaned and checked before waterproofing.
5. Walls first

The white coating starts on the walls, right under the edge of the tiled roof.
6. The corner

Corners and the joint with the floor are covered carefully, as that's where cracks usually open.
7. The floor

The coating spreads over the whole floor and joins the walls into one continuous surface.
8. Finishing touches

The last spots on the walls are rolled so no gap is left.
