Skip

In other languages: Κάδος μπαζών · حاوية الأنقاض

A large metal container for the rubble from building work, collected by a truck once full. On the street it usually needs a permit from the municipality.

When a demolition produces a lot of rubble, a skip is placed near the building instead of many trips with a small truck. The rubble bags are emptied into it, and when it is full a truck takes it away and brings an empty one if needed.

If the skip goes on the street or pavement, it usually needs a permit from the municipality, and it must not block the way and must be visible at night. In a yard or on private ground things are simpler.

A skip is for rubble: broken tiles, bricks, render, concrete. Its contents have to end up with a licensed scheme for building waste, not at a landfill or on an empty plot.
