Slip-resistant surface
In other languages: Αντιολισθητική επιφάνεια · السطح المقاوم للانزلاق
A floor, tile or paint with a textured finish that doesn't get slippery easily when wet. It's needed on balconies, courtyards, steps and around showers.
A floor that is perfectly fine indoors can be dangerous outside. Glossy tiles, polished marble and a painted concrete surface get very slippery when wet from rain, watering or washing.
Slip-resistant tiles have a rough or textured surface that grips the foot. There are also floor paints with a slip-resistant texture, for concrete and sidewalks. With stone, the surface can get its texture from the way it is finished.
When choosing a material for a balcony, courtyard or steps, ask whether it's made for outdoor use and how slippery it is when wet. Remember too that moss and dirt make any surface slippery, so it also matters that water drains away properly.
