Walk-in shower
In other languages: Ντουζιέρα δαπέδου · دش في مستوى الأرضية
A shower with no tray and no step, level with the rest of the bathroom floor. The water drains through a floor drain or a linear channel drain.

In a walk-in shower, the bathroom floor tiles carry on without a break into the shower area. There is no tray and no step, just a glass panel or nothing at all. It is practical for older people and anyone who finds it hard to step over a lip, and it makes the bathroom look bigger.
What matters most is what you cannot see. The floor needs proper falls towards the floor drain or channel drain so water does not spread across the bathroom. Underneath, the whole shower area needs waterproofing that also runs up the walls, because there is no tray to hold the water.
In an existing building, the drain needs depth below the floor, and that is not always available. So a walk-in shower is planned from the start together with the pipework and the new floor, usually when the bathroom is being stripped out completely.
