Tile levelling clips

Small plastic parts (clips with wedges or caps) placed at the edges of tiles while the adhesive is wet, to hold them flush with each other with no lips.

The bigger the tiles, the harder it is to keep them all perfectly flush. A small height difference between two tiles shows up in raking light, collects dirt and, on a floor, catches your foot. Levelling clips solve that problem.
The system has two parts. A base with a thin neck slips under the edges of neighbouring tiles, in the joint, and a wedge or cap on top tightens down so the tile faces line up with each other. The neck often also sets the width of the joint, like a spacer.
Once the tile adhesive has set, the top part is snapped off with a tap along the line of the joint and removed, while the base stays hidden under the tile. Then the joints are grouted. The clips help, but they cannot fix an uneven base; the surface has to be flat to begin with.
