Pressure washing

In other languages: Υδροβολή (πλύσιμο με πιεστικό) · الغسيل بالضغط

Cleaning a surface with a strong jet of water from a machine. Before waterproofing, insulation or painting, it removes dust, dirt, lichen and loose material so the new layer bonds well.

A pressure washer sends water at high pressure through a narrow nozzle. It is used on flat roofs, metal roofs, balconies and floors before a primer, a waterproof coating or polyurethane foam goes on.

Its job is to leave a clean surface. Dust, dirt and lichen stop materials from bonding. Washing also reveals spots that have come loose or cracked and need repairing before the work carries on.

After washing, the surface has to dry before anything goes on top. On soft or fragile materials, such as old render or worn grout, a very strong jet can do damage, so the pressure and distance are adjusted to the surface.
