Built-up shower base
In other languages: Κτιστή βάση ντουζιέρας · قاعدة الدش المبنية
A low, built shower floor sloping to the drain and finished with tiles. An option when the floor isn't deep enough for a level shower.

A built-up shower base is a low, built floor where the shower goes, a little higher than the rest of the bathroom. It is laid with a slope to the drain and finished with the same tile as the floor or walls, instead of a ready-made tray.
It is a common answer when a bathtub becomes a shower and the floor isn't deep enough for the drain of a walk-in shower. In a flat the slab below isn't dug into, so the missing height is gained upwards. In a small bathroom, a shower base was built where the bathtub used to be.
Like any shower, the base needs waterproofing under the tiles, the right slope and a carefully finished joint where it meets the wall. Its low step is worth thinking about if older people live in the home.
